Man drives car through fence, into backyard
SPRINGFIELD – According to Sgt. John Delaney of the Springfield Police Department, 35-year-old Manuel Teixeira of Kane St. Springfield was killed after he drove his car through a fence and into someone’s backyard early Monday morning.
It happened just before 2 a.m. on the corner of Breckwood Boulevard and Gerald Street.
According to Delaney it was determined that the one car accident was the direct result of speed, and the lack of skid marks at the scene led police to believe Teixeira may have passed out or fallen asleep at the wheel.
It has not been determined if alcohol played a part in the incident said Delaney.
Springfield Fire spokesman Dennis Leger told 22news that the jaws of life were needed.
