21-year-old man charged in Wellesley hit-and-run

WELLESLEY, Mass. (AP) — Police say a suspect has been arrested in a hit-and-run crash that injured a bicyclist in Wellesley.

Twenty-one-year-old Connor Campanelli, of Wellesley, turned himself in to police Friday evening.

He’s charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, operating under the influence of liquor and related crimes.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. Friday on Hampshire Road. Witnesses say the driver hit the cyclist and kept driving.

The cyclist, a 47-year-old Framingham man, was taken to the hospital with injuries deemed not life-threatening.

Police say a person who may know the suspect called 911 and provided the suspect’s name.

Campanelli was released on $3,000 bail. He’s scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Dedham District Court.

A message left at a number listed for Campanelli wasn’t immediately returned.
