3 people hospitalized in 2 Springfield crashes

Three people are in the hospital tonight after two car accidents in Springfield.

The first happened at 1364 Parker Street at around 9:20 p.m.

Two cars collided near the center line.  One male driver suffered a head injury. The other driver, also a male, was pinned under the dashboard and suffered a broken leg.

They were both taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and are expected to be okay.

The two cars involved according to Dennis Leger, Aid to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, were a Mitsubishi sedan and a Subaru.  Both vehicles suffered heavy front end damage.

Emergency personnel from both the Fire and Police Departments responded to this accident.

Mini-van accident near 99 Main St, Springfield

The second accident happened at about the same time in the area of 99 Main Street where first responders found a mini-van on its side.

Leger said that the female driver had to be pulled through the windshield of the van by firefighters.

Firefighters say that they believe she hit something which caused the van to roll over.

The driver was also taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center and is expected to be okay.
