Bicyclist hit, killed by school bus in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD – A bicyclist was struck and killed by a school bus in the City of Pittsfield on Monday morning.

The victim, 63-year-old Everett Clark, of Pittsfield, was riding his bicycle down East Street when he rode into the path of a school bus that was making a right-hand turn from Willis Street onto East Street at 7:46 a.m. on Monday.

The school bus, driven by 44-year-old Catherine Collins, of Pittsfield, was unable to avoid striking Clark.

Pittsfield Fire Department and Action Ambulance treated Clark at the scene and took him to Berkshire Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call Pittsfield Police at 413-448-9700 ext. 338.
