Colrain man killed in motorcycle accident

SHELBURNE – State police say the driver of a motorcycle has been killed after striking a stopped car on Route 2 in Shelburne.

Police say 24-year-old Matthew Smith of Colrain died when his motorcycle struck a Subaru Forrester which was stopped on the side of the road.

The driver of the Subaru, a 23-year-old from North Pownal, Vt., was in the car and seriously injured in the accident just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

He was brought to Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield and later transferred to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. His name was not released.

The accident remains under investigation.
