Boston police closed several streets in East Boston Tuesday morning after a car crashed into a construction site near Maverick Square, potentially destabilizing scaffolding at the site.
The crash was reported around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Porter and Orleans streets, officials said.
Concern about the structural integrity of the scaffolding has led police to close about a one-block area roughly formed by Porter, Bremen, Gove and Orleans streets.
It was not immediately known when the streets would be reopened.
The incident is under investigation, police said.
