Danville man killed in morning car crash

DANVILLE — A local man was killed in a crash Friday morning when his pickup truck struck a telephone pole and flipped over, New Hampshire State Police said.

Donald Leathers, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Danville police received a call about a car accident on G.H. Carter Drive just before 9 a.m.

State Police, who were called in to help with the investigation, determined Leathers drifted off the roadway to the right, then overcompensated when he pulled back onto the road and struck a telephone pole before the truck overturned and landed on its roof.

It is not yet clear why Leathers lost control, but State Police said it does not appear speed or alcohol are to blame.

State Police were aided at the scene by the Danville and Fremont Police Departments, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Danville Fire Department.

The crash is still under investigation by State Police.
