LEXINGTON, Mass. (WHDH) – A tractor-trailer driver was killed in a crash early Wednesday morning in Lexington.
The crash involved a tandem tractor trailer that rolled over on Route 95 northbound, just south of exit 31 in Lexington at around 4:30 a.m.
Preliminary State Police investigation shows the operator, a 52-year-old man from Saugus, was traveling northbound when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over. The driver was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to Lahey Clinic, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash investigation and cleanup left parts of Route 95 reduced to one lane for most of the morning. Two lanes are now open. The heavy traffic left drivers stuck in their cars for hours and boxed people in at rest stops.
“Crawling the whole way, at least an hour of crawling,” said Ronnie Hendricks. “But like I said, you have to get used to it.”
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
