Evenflo Top-of-Stair Baby Gates Recalled

Evenflo Co. Inc., is voluntarily recalling Evenflo Top-of-Stair Plus Wooden Gates because the slats on the gate can detach, posing a fall hazard.

The recall, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, involves about 150,000 gates in the U.S. and 33,000 in Canada .

To this date, the company has received 142 reports of the slats breaking and/or detaching. Four children suffered bumps and bruises to the head and seven children suffered minor injuries including scrapes and scratches.

Evenflo Top-of-Stair Plus Wood Gates with the following model numbers: 10502 and 10512 are involved in the recall. The gates were sold at several mass merchandise retailers nationwide including Kmart and Toys ‘R’ Us.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled gates and contact Evenflo for a new replacement gate.
