A 22-year-old Grafton woman was killed Wednesday night in a car crash on Rte. 140, police said.

Officers were called to Rte. 140 in the area of Rte. 20 at about 7:48 p.m., police said, following a two-car collision.

Lindsey Demoranville, the driver of a 2006 Ford Focus, was taken to UMass Medical Center, police said, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police said a preliminary investigation determined that Demoranville was traveling south on Rte. 140 when her vehicle collided with a 2013 Infiniti sedan driven by a 33-year-old woman from Worcester.

The Worcester woman was treated for non life-threatening injuries at UMass Medical Center, police said.

Police shut down Rte. 140 for several hours while they and state police investigated. The accident remains under investigation, police said.

Wednesday’s crash was the second fatal accident in Shrewsbury in 24 hours.
