Holyoke Man Killed in Crash Christmas Night

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — An unidentified Holyoke man is dead after he was thrown from the vehicle he was driving in a crash on Rt. 5 in Holyoke Christmas night.

Police Lt. Cournoyer reports they received a call from a neighbor who heard the crash at about 10:20 p.m.   When officers arrived they found the motor vehicle in a ditch and on fire.  It was located on Northampton St. going north “by the Jericho House/Delaney House area.”

Emergency personnel located the 24-year-old man outside of the car.   At this time police aren’t releasing his identity pending notification of next of kin.   A description of the vehicle he was driving has not been made available at this time either.

Lt. Cournoyer says that there were no witnesses who saw the crash that they’re aware of right now, but they do believe that speed was a factor.

The Holyoke Police Reconstruction team is actively investigating this fatal accident.  If you have any information that could help police with this case, please contact the Holyoke Police Department at 413-536-6431.
