A Yarmouth man was killed in a fiery car crash in that town late Wednesday night, officials said.
William Kimball , 54, crashed his vehicle head-on into a tree off of Route 6A, near Vesper Lane, just before 11 p.m., said Yarmouth Deputy Fire Chief Jon Sawyer. The car caught fire fter the crash.
Sawyer said neighbors removed Kimball, unconscious, from the burning car before officials arrived, but he was in the car for some time because the heat of the flames had driven the neighbors back. Kimball had been driving alone, police said.
Kimball was taken to a hospital in cardiac arrest, but Sawyer said police are still trying to determine if that condition caused the crash or was a result of it.
“We don’t know if there was a prior medical condition,” Sawyer said.
The crash is under investigation by Yarmouth police.
