CHARLTON – Massachusetts Turnpike traffic was backed up for hours after a seven-vehicle crash that left two people injured yesterday afternoon.
The investigation is continuing, but state police said two people, including a 5-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries.
The crash occurred about 1 p.m. in the area of mile marker 82, near the Interstate 84 interchange. State police said a truck was traveling west when it was involved in an accident that resulted in the truck crossing the median and coming to a stop in the eastbound lanes.
Seven vehicles were involved in the crash, but an eighth was damaged by flying debris, state police said.
There was a 10-mile backup in each direction, with traffic backing up onto Interstate 84 as well.
