Mass. woman killed in Fla. Panhandle car accident

NAVARRE, Fla.—Authorities say a Massachusetts woman visiting the Florida Panhandle has died in a traffic accident involving a 15-year-old driver.

Margaret Catyb of Dracut, Mass., had traveled to Navarre to see her grandson graduate from high school.

Catyb died Thursday after the teenager pulled her vehicle into the path of the car driven by Catyb’s son, Alley Catyb II, also of Dracut, Mass.

Margaret Catyb died at a hospital. Alley Catyb and the teen were treated for minor injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Steven Preston tells the Pensacola News Journal ( http://on.pnj.com/Li9IVs) that the teen violated her driving learner’s permit, which required her to have someone 21 or older in the car with her.

FHP says alcohol was not involved in the crash. Preston says charges are pending.
