Massachusetts residents killed in I-93 crash

A Stoneham man and a Merrimac woman were killed in a car crash just before midnight Friday on Interstate 93 north in Salem, N.H., according to New Hampshire State Police.

Michael Joyce, 29, was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 at when it left the roadway and hit a large tree off the exit ramp to a rest area, according to a State Police statement. Rescuers responded at 11:55 p.m. and found “extensive damage” to the car.

The Merrimac woman, Karina O’Donnell, 23, was a passenger, according to the statement.

Police believe speed may have been a factor. One lane of I-93 North was closed during the investigation. State Police urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Trooper Juan Infante at 603-223-8985.
