Medway crash turns fatal

MEDWAY —  A 20-year-old man was killed and an 18-year-old woman was critically injured when the pickup truck they were riding in overturned on Holliston Street Monday night, police said.

Both people were ejected from the 2005 Dodge Ram after it left the road at 45 Holliston St. and crashed into a curb and pine tree around 9:30 p.m., according to Medway Police.

The truck rolled over several times and struck a metal pole before coming to rest on the Medway Middle School lawn, police said.

A Millis Fire ambulance brought the man to Milford Regional Medical Center, where he later died. The woman was taken by medical helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center. Police said the woman was in critical condition yesterday. Police did not identify either of the victims.

Officer David Leavenworth said last night that police don’t know whether alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.

Medway Police are also investigating whether another vehicle was on the scene at the time of the accident.

The Massachusetts State Police Reconstruction Team reconstructed the accident Monday night and is also involved in the investigation, Leavenworth said.

Events EMS, Medflight and members of the Medway, Millis and Franklin Fire departments responded to the scene.
