Motorcyclist badly hurt in crash with car

WESTBORO —  A local man was cited this morning for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident that seriously injured a motorcyclist.

The accident occurred around 8:10 this morning when Ravi Kumar Edasuryachandra, 39, of 135 East Main St., was allegedly driving a leased 2010 Chevrolet that pulled out of Park Village West apartments in front of a motorcycle driven by Michael Martin, 22, of 336 Old Central St., Berlin.

When police arrived, Mr. Martin’s 1997 Suzuki motorcycle was on the ground, and he was seriously injured. Mr. Edasuryachandra had allegedly left the scene. Mr. Martin was treated by Westboro Fire Department paramedics, and was taken to the University of Massachusetts East Main Street an hour later, according to Police Chief Al Gordon.

Mr. Edasuryachandra was not injured, but the driver’s side of his vehicle was badly damaged.

Mr. Edasuryachandra was cited for allegedly leaving the scene of a personal injury motor vehicle accident and failure to yield to oncoming traffic.

The accident is being investigated by Patrolman Domenic Annunziata.
