SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — One lane remains closed on I-91 northbound near Exit 2 in Longmeadow.
Around 10 a.m. Wednesday, a tractor trailer jack-knifed and crews are currently repairing the guardrail. That work is impacting traffic in the left lane.
The driver of the tractor trailer sustained unknown injuries.
Also earlier in the day, emergency crews responded to a two car motor vehicle crash going southbound on I-91 at the 1.8 mile marker in Longmeadow. One of the vehicles did catch fire which was put out by firefighters. One person in that crash was taken to Baystate Medical Center with minor injuries.
On the Mass. Pike, a tractor trailer traveling I-90 westbound in Warren also jack-knifed around noon Wednesday, resulting in lane closures. Mass. State Police, the MassDOT, and the Warren Fire Department all responded.
Traffic was backed up for several miles, but the accident has since been cleared.
State Police say there were no injuries.
While the cause of these accidents remain under investigation, they did occur in rainy weather. State Police Lt. Dan Richard advises drivers to, “Leave more space than you normally would. Distance is your friend with limited visibility.”
