LYNN – Police say one person is dead and a second has been taken to a hospital after a vehicle plunged off a bridge into the Saugus River.
The accident happened early Monday on the Fox Hill Bridge on Route 107 in Lynn.
The Lynn Item ( http://bit.ly/slIgLX) reports that police officers and firefighters from Lynn and Saugus jumped into the water and worked to free a woman and a man who were trapped in the SUV.
The woman was taken to a hospital but she did not survive.
Officials said the man, who had been in cardiac arrest, was revived by EMTs and later taken to a Boston hospital.
The names of the victims were not immediately released and police are investigating.
One firefighter was treated for hypothermia and a foot injury.
