Rhode Island man dead after car crash in Somerville

A Rhode Island man died after a two-car collision in Somerville early this morning, according to state police.

At 4:35 a.m., troopers assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Medford Barracks responded to a collision involving a 2002 Suburban and a 1995 Jetta at the intersection of Route 28 and Mystic Avenue.

The Suburban was operated by Mark Gray, 50, of Boston. He was transported by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The Jetta was operated by Enrique Rivera, 67, of Central Falls, Rhode Island. He was transported by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A passenger in the Jetta, Cathleen Torres, 49, of Pawtucket Rhode Island was transported by ambulance to Mass General Hospital with minor injuries.

State police are still investigating the cause of the collision.
