HADLEY, Mass. (AP) — Police say a Rhode Island man has died in a two-car crash on Route 9 in Hadley.
Joseph Arruda, of Bristol, Rhode Island, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at about 9:40 a.m. Thursday.
The Northwestern district attorney’s office said in a statement that the 57-year-old Arruda was driving west when his car apparently crossed the double-yellow center line and struck the back driver’s side of an SUV driven by a Hadley man.
The other driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Neither vehicle had any passengers.
The cause remains under investigation.
