Rindge woman flown to Massachusetts hospital after crash

RINDGE — As of Friday afternoon, a Rindge woman is still recovering from a Thursday night single-vehicle crash, serious enough that she was transported to a Massachusetts hospital.

Kim Wheeler of Rindge, 43, was driving a 2012 Honda Civic north on Cathedral Road in the vicinity of Annett State Park, when her vehicle went off-road, head-on into a tree, according to Rindge police. Police said a call came in at 10:11 p.m. and, according to police reports, no roads were closed.

Wheeler was first transported to Monadnock Community Hospital. However, the accident victim’s injuries proved serious enough that she was eventually flown to UMass Medical Center in Worcester. As of Friday morning, she was in stable condition.

An investigation is ongoing about the cause of the accident and will not be substantially forwarded until Wheeler is released from the hospital, police said. The officer added the vehicle was “most likely totaled” in the accident, and it is unclear as of Friday afternoon whether or not it was totaled.
