A Salem man suffered a serious leg injury after he got pinned between his motorcycle and a jeep on Wednesday, police said today.
Mark A. Hereley, 57, was flown to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after the 9:25 p.m. crash at the intersection of Main and West Plain streets.
The driver of the Jeep Cherokee, Thomas Hull, 26, of Burlington, Vt., was not injured.
Police said both the motorcycle and Jeep were stopped at the red light on Main Street on West Plain Street. When the light turned green, the motorcycle went straight as the Jeep turned left onto West Plain Street, police said. The motorcycle crashed into the side of the Jeep.
When police and fire arrived, Hereley was trapped between the motorcycle and Jeep. Due to the severity of his leg injury, police said they called for a medical rescue helicopter.
Hereley’s condition is not known. A hospital has not returned calls seeking the condition.
The accident remains under investigation, police. No one has been charged or cited.
