Sonata Sedans Recalled By Hyundai

Hyundai Motor Co. announced a voluntary recall of 2011 Sonatas due to faulty latches on the vehicle’s front doors.

According to a spokesman for Hyundai, “The malfunction only occurs when front-seat passengers try to open their doors while simultaneously holding down the lock button.”

While the circumstance is uncommon, it has occurred enough to send the company scrambling for a fix.

The recall affects about 1,300 Sonatas built through Feb. 16 at the automaker’s plant in Alabama, as well as 46,000 models made in Korea. No accidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the recall.
