LEICESTER — A 33-year-old Southbridge man was killed Wednesday night when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car on Route 56 just north of Stafford Street.
Police received several 911 calls reporting a motorcycle had crashed into a near Kindred Hospital, 111 Huntoon Memorial Highway (Route 56), just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said the 2004 Suzuki motorcycle driven by the Southbridge man was going north on Route 56. A 48-year-old woman from the Bronx, N.Y., driving a 2007 Toyota Matrix had just exited the hospital when the collision occurred.
The Leicester Ambulance Service treated both drivers and took them to St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, according to police. The Toyota driver was treated injuries that were not life-threatening injuries and was released.
Police have not released the identity of the motorcyclist.
Leicester police were assisted at the scene by state police, Leicester Ambulance Service and Leicester Fire Department.
The crash is still under investigation by Leicester police and the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council accident reconstruction unit
