Today at 3:45 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Milton responded to a head-on crash on Wampatuck Road in Quincy. The crash resulted in one fatality.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Brian Tully indicates that Anthony C. Nwabude,26, of Quincy was operating a 2000 Lincoln Mercury LS south on Wampatuck Road when he crossed the center line and struck a 2005 Jeep Liberty operated by Yvonne Fairgrieve, 34, of Quincy.
Nwabude sustained serious injuries, and was transported to Milton Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Fairgrieve sustained minor injuries and was transported to Boston Medical Center. Nwabude was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Ms. Fairgrieve was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Milton Fire Department and the Department of Recreation and Conservation. Wampatuck Road was closed for approximately 2 1/2 hours during the rescue operation and crash investigation.
