Last night at 10:25 p.m., Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Leominster responded to numerous calls reporting a single-vehicle rollover on Route 495 northbound, past Exit 25A, in Marlborough.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Matthew Conway indicates that Mary Kostikian, 20, of Watertown, who was operating a 2010 Honda Civic, was ejected from her vehicle when it rolled over into the right travel lane just after Exit 25A. The victim was not wearing a seatbelt and speed is being investigated as a contributing factor in this crash.
Marlborough EMS transported Ms. Kostikian to Marlborough Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Troopers closed the right two travel lanes for roughly 2 ½ hours to accommodate the rescue response and investigation. All lanes were re-opened for travel at approximately 12:45 a.m.
The ongoing investigation into the facts and circumstances of the crash being conducted by Troop C of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Also assisting at the scene were the Marlborough Police and Fire Departments as well as the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s Highway Division.
