LYNN – One person was killed in a crash involving a tow truck yesterday afternoon in Lynn, State Police said. The crash, reported at 4:32 p.m., happened on the southbound side of the Lynnway at the Harding Street red light, State Police said in a statement.
The tow truck, a flatbed owned by G & J Towing of Revere, rear-ended a Honda Civic when it was stopped at the light, police said. A 23-year-old passenger from Lynn in the Civic’s back seat was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said. Both vehicles caught fire upon impact. The Civic’s driver and front seat passenger were taken to Salem Hospital.
The tow truck operator, Derek Gallien, 23, of Peabody, was not injured and has not been charged, State Police said.
