NORTHBOROUGH — A pickup truck driver was rushed to a Worcester hospital Monday morning after a crash on Interstate 290 in Northborough was so severe that the cab of the truck separated from the frame, according to the Shrewsbury Fire Department.
Shrewsbury firefighters were called to the one-vehicle crash on I-290 eastbound after Northborough Fire officials requested their help. The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. The driver of the truck had been ejected from the vehicle, Shrewsbury Fire said.
The accident was prior to the Church Street exit in Northborough.
“On arrival the impact of the vehicle was so severe the cab of the vehicle separated from the frame,” Shrewsbury Fire said.
Shrewsbury and Northborough firefighters rushed to help the driver, who was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center–University Campus in Worcester.
The accident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police. Traffic was slowed on the highway after two lanes were closed for about an hour.
