LYNCHBURG, VA (WGGB) – A Wilbraham man was killed after being hit by a train in Riverside Park in Lynchburg, Virginia Saturday afternoon. That’s according to WSET.
Jonathan Gregoire, 21, was among a group of young adults on a train trestle when the train approached. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Victoria Bridges, 21, of Newport News, was also struck. She was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Area residents say this is not the first instance of people getting dangerously close to an active train track.
Julie Burgess, who has lived in the area for years said, “It’s kind of becoming a problem with you know the children and the teenagers that want to come up here and get on the railroad track, they’re pretty much playing Russian roulette with their life.”
Police say they do not suspect foul play in the accident, but the investigation is still ongoing.
