Woman killed crossing Lenox street

LENOX —A woman crossing a dimly lit Lenox street has been struck and killed by a passing car.

Police say 46-year-old Stacy Macfarlane-Holmes was struck just before 1 a.m. on Sunday and declared dead at Berkshire Medical Center. Although it was raining at the time, the death is not considered storm-related.

Police tell The Berkshire Eagle ( http://bit.ly/q99Nm9) the victim was crossing the street from a restaurant to a supermarket parking lot across the street. Police say when the restaurant’s parking lot is full, customers often park across the busy street.

The driver, Firas M. Kara of Lee, told police he did not see the woman. The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
