STOUGHTON, Mass. —A 34-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries when the vehicle she was driving collided with another car in Stoughton Saturday afternoon.
According to The Enterprise, the crash happened at the intersection of Canton and School streets, near the center of town, about 2:19 p.m., Stoughton Fire Captain Bill Bartkowsky said.
The driver of a Jeep SUV struck the driver’s door of a Volkswagen Beetle in the middle of the intersection, causing serious injuries to the female driver of the car and injuring two other passengers inside. The driver of the Jeep was uninjured, Bartkowsky said.
The woman was flown by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital. The landing zone for the helicopter was Stoughton High School.
The two passengers were taken by ambulance to local hospitals with injuries.
The Jeep sustained serious damage to the front-end. The front bumper was crushed and dragging on the ground and the hood was dented. On the Beetle, the driver’s door had a deep, large dent across it from the impact of the collision.
The cause of the crash was being investigated and it was not immediately clear if anyone would be cited or charged.
