Woman to be charged in hit-and-run accident

A 24-year-old Danvers woman turned herself in to Danvers police Friday night after reporting she hit someone while driving in Peabody, police said.

Kristiana M. Alexandrou, 12 Fowler St., Danvers, drove her car home after the accident and walked to the Danvers police station to report the accident, according to a police report.

Peabody police will summons her to court on charges of leaving the scene of personal injury after talking to her at the Danvers police station, according to the report.

The hit-and-run accident on Central Street was reported to Peabody police around 8:45 p.m.

The victim, Patricia Fleury, 75, 20 Central St., Peabody, was transported by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital after reportedly being seriously injured during the accident, which happened as she crossed the street near her home.

Fleury was reported to have “bounced” off the hood during the accident, according to police scanner reports that night.

The vehicle left the scene and was seen headed toward Route 114 and Danvers.

Fleury remained in critical condition as of Saturday night, according to a press release from Peabody police. There was no information available on her condition as of last night.

A Massachusetts State Police reconstruction team was called to the scene to help investigate.

The car Alexandrou was driving was towed to the Peabody police station.
