2 Dead in Police Chase Crash in Massachusetts

A man and a woman were killed after a police chase started in Brockton, Massachusetts, and ended in Avon overnight, authorities confirm.

Authorities say a black Nissan crashed into a utility pole on West Main Street just off of Harrison Boulevard around 2:50 a.m. Monday.

Matthew Andrade and Denise Moreira, both 21 years old from Brockton, were pronounced dead in the crash.

In addition, three others were taken to the hospital, with two suffering from life threatening injuries, according to Norfolk District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney’s Office later said that all of these victims are expected to survive.

The D.A.’s Office says a Brockton officer noticed the black Nissan honking its horn in a neighborhood, and fled from the scene instead of stopping.

Necn observed Massachusetts State Police’s accident reconstruction team, Brockton police and a member of the Medical Examiner’s Office on the scene. Video shows the crash nearly took down a utility pole and pieces of the car all over the road.

The driver in the crash could face manslaughter charges.

The road has been reopened after being closed for over ten hours today. Police continue their active investigation.
