An Arlington couple were fatally injured Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Wellesley, State Police said.
Robert Bibeau, 80, was brought to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and died of his injuries yesterday. His wife, Joan, 77, was pronounced dead at the scene.
They were the only occupants of the vehicle.
The Bibeaus were the in-laws of James Crocker, the Republican nominee for the Cape and Islands state Senate district.
State Police said Robert Bibeau was driving northbound in the left lane in the area of Exit 20B about 3:30 p.m. when his van veered off the left side of the road and struck a guardrail and a bridge abutment.
State Police said the crash remains under investigation.
