SOMERVILLE – A 59-year-old woman was struck and badly injured by a Honda pickup truck on Washington Street, near the railroad trestles Sunday night. The accident happened at dusk, and neither speed nor alcohol are thought to have been factors, said Deputy Police Chief Paul Upton. He said the driver is cooperating with police, and no tickets have been issued. The Cambridge woman was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital and she is in “critical condition,” Upton wrote in an e-mail. Photos show that clothes were strewn across Washington Street, near Tufts Street, and the road was closed for around three hours, according to Upton. The driver had been heading South, toward Union Square and struck the woman just before the underpass.
