Cohassett Police: Serious accident by Shaw’s Plaza

Cohasset — On Thursday, Oct. 28, at about 8:24am, Cohasset Police Officers responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 3A at Shaw’s Plaza.  On arrival officers observed that a 2001 Ford Windstar Van had been struck broadside by a 2003 International ramp truck.

Witnesses on scene reported that the female driver of the van was existing Shaw’s Plaza and pulled out in front of the ramp truck, which was traveling south on Route 3A.  The van was totaled by the impact on the driver’s side door.  The International ramp truck had minor front-end damage.

The driver of the van, a 41-year-old Hull woman, was removed from the van by the Cohasset Fire Department (jaws-of-life not used) and transported to South Shore Hospital by Scituate Fire Department ambulance with serious injuries.  The driver of the ramp truck was uninjured.

The driver of the ramp truck has been identified as 21-year-old Brockton man. The ramp truck is owned by Express Towing, Braintree.  The van is owned by Nantasket Car Service, Hull.

The accident is under investigation by the Cohasset Police Department with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.  No citations have been issued yet.  Traffic on Rte. 3A was backed-up for miles due to the accident, with only two of the four lanes open.
