MARION – A Ludlow man was killed in a two-car crash on Interstate 195 westbound Wednesday night, state police said.
According to police, Edward Widor, 69, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo when it broke down a half mile east of Exit 20 on I-195. The vehicle was partially in the right travel lane and partially in the breakdown lane, and there were no rear lights activated on the car, police said.
While police were en route to the disabled car, a 2004 Subaru Forester station wagon struck the left side and open door of the disabled car, police said. According to police, evidence suggests Widor was either standing alongside his car or sitting in the driver’s seat when the accident occurred.
Widor was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Two passengers in the Chevrolet, a 56-year-old Ludlow woman and a 33-year-old Sagamore woman, suffered minor injuries and were transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham. The driver of the Subaru was also transported for minor injuries.
The driver of the Subaru is not facing charges at this time and his identity is not being released.
The accident remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police.
