State police are seeking a motorcycle driver who allegedly fled the scene after crashing on an Interstate 91 on-ramp Friday morning.
Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Adam Hakkarainen said the crash was reported at 6 a.m. at the on-ramp to Interstate 91 south from Hampden Street (Route 141).
Troopers arriving at the scene found the motorcycle but were unable to find the driver, Hakkarainen said. A K9 unit was seen searching the area shortly before 7 a.m.
Police did not witness the crash, and no pursuit preceded the incident.
The motorcycle, a blue-and-white Yamaha with Vermont plates, was pulled from a ditch and loaded onto a flatbed truck from Reardon’s Garage shortly after 7 a.m. In addition to the motorcycle, troopers recovered a helmet and a dark backpack bearing the letters “RSC” and containing a set of DR-brand bass guitar strings.
The driver will face charges of leaving the scene of an accident, Hakkarainen said.
The crash remains under investigation.
