Milford crash leaves 3 injured

MILFORD – Three people were injured, one seriously, in a two-car crash on Route 13 Friday evening. Police say the most seriously injured was a 16-year-old passenger in one of the cars, whose name they didn’t release citing his or her age. Police said the teen was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and listed in critical condition early Saturday.

Police said the accident, which happened just after 8 p.m. at the intersection of Route 13 and Melendy Road, involved a 2001 Saturn four-door driven by Raymond Sweeny, 52, of Greenfield, and a 1999 Honda two-door car operated by Stephanie Gariepy, 29, of Brookline. The teen was a passenger in Sweeny’s car. Both Sweeny and Gariepy are listed in stable condition in Nashua hospitals; he at St. Joseph Hospital and she at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, police said.

The initial investigation showed that Sweeny’s car, which was traveling north on Route 13, crossed the double yellow line and collided with Gariepy’s southbound car, police said. Police didn’t specify if anyone has been or will be charged, saying that Milford’s Technical Accident Reconstruction Unit was called in and continues to investigate.

Route 13 was closed for about three hours Friday night as investigators processed the scene. Anyone who may have more information on the crash is asked to contact Sgt. Kevin Furlong at 673-7742.
