LOWELL — A 21-year-old Brockton man was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Lowell Connector Sunday morning after losing control of the motorcycle and crashing into the guardrail.
The man’s name was not released, pending notification of next of kin, according to a statement from State Police.
The call came into Lowell dispatch at 11:30 a.m. today. According to police, a man was driving outbound by the Industrial Avenue on-ramp when he lost control of a 2008 Yamaha R6. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but speed is believed to be a factor, police stated in a press release.
Another man was traveling with the victim on a second motorcycle, according to police. He stayed at the scene as police investigated.
All lanes of the Connector were shut down after the crash. The Connector was partially reopened shortly after noon with numerous emergency vehicles remaining along the left lane of the highway.
The Lowell Fire Department, Mass DOT, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner assisted at the scene, police said.
