Police are investigating a two-car crash in New Hampshire that killed a local judge and injured two others, including a University of Connecticut running back.
Police said 74-year-old Bruce Larson of Durham died at the accident scene Saturday morning on Route 4 in Durham. He was heading west when he collided with a vehicle that appeared to have been attempting to pass another vehicle heading east.
Police said Ryan Merchant of Wakefield, Massachusetts, was driving and Martin Hyppolite of Malden, Massachusetts, was a passenger. Both are 22.
Merchant was hospitalized in critical condition; Hyppolite was in stable condition.
Larson served in the district division of the New Hampshire Circuit Court, in Candia.
Hyppolite rushed for 69 yards on 19 carries and played in 12 games for UConn last season.
