Police arrested a woman July 28 after she reportedly caused a multi-vehicle accident while driving drunkenly. Linda Cunningham, 51, 113 Heath St., was arrested on Central Street on a charge of operating under the influence of liquor.
Police reportedly arrived on Central Street just past midnight to find a black Dodge Durango with extensive damage to the rear bumper, another car with extensive damage to the entire driver’s side and front end, and Cunningham’s vehicle with headlights on and engine running.
Witnesses told police Cunningham’s vehicle had been driving slowly in the wrong lane and had struck the two vehicles. The woman driving the Dodge Durango reportedly told police she had Cunningham’s registration, which Cunningham had given to her and forgotten about.
Cunningham reportedly smelled of an alcoholic beverage and told police she had been at the beach all day before going to China Delight, where she consumed two mixed drinks and left to go home. After reportedly failing several field sobriety tests, Cunningham was arrested and taken to the station, where a chemical breath analysis reportedly showed a blood alcohol content level of 0.22 percent.
