REVERE – A Mass. State Police trooper was injured in a three-car crash on Route 1 southbound Monday.
Officials say the trooper was hit from behind at about 1 a.m. near Route 16 in Revere.
The trooper sustained minor injuries. A victim in one of the other two cars was reportedly in traumatic arrest. Their condition was unknown Monday morning.
The overnight crash was the third incident involving a Mass. State Police trooper in November alone. On Nov. 17, a trooper sustained non-life threatening injuries when he was hit from behind on I-495 in Raynham. Another trooper was hit four days earlier on the Mass. Pike in Grafton.
In Massachusetts, drivers must abide by the “Move Over” law, which requires them to switch lanes when approaching an emergency vehicle on the side of the road or slow down when moving over is not possible. Failing to do so is punishable by up to a $100 fine.
