A Massachusetts State Trooper backed into a pedestrian in the Roche Bros. parking plaza Tuesday afternoon.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a Massachusetts State Trooper backed out of his parking spot in the Roche Bros. parking plaza in Acton when he struck a 38-year-old Watertown male.
There were no serious injuries, but the Watertown male was sent to Emerson Hospital for wrist injuries which he received when he flung his hands out in a reaction to stop the car.
An ambulance arrived on scene along with the Massachusetts Investigative Crime Scene team.
“Everything about the crash points to it being an accident, but non the less we will undergo an investigation, fully,” said David Procopio, spokesperson for the Massachusetts State Police.
The 29-year-old State Trooper involved in the accident is assigned to the Commonwealth Fusion Center, based in Maynard, a division of the State Police that gathers intelligence on suspected terrorists.
Neither the name of the Watertown man nor the State Trooper were released, Procopio said.
The accident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts Investigative Crime.
